With 629,000 unemployed (officially) and three times that number suffering through this Grave Recession, the Keystone State mirrors what is happening all across America. And Our Turn reflects the simmering rage of unemployed and underemployed everywhere.

If you like Our Turn, please forward this to your friends. Urge them to join UCubed and our fight to put America back to work.

When you elect a president that has no knowledge of what he is doing ,what else can you expect. The money flowed to those who would not work and to projects that were a bust. The government has taken over private industry in the guise of rescue while those that have worked, will work have been ignored. They are loosing everything they have worked for while those that caused the problem continue to profit.Congress is our main problem namely Barney Frank,Chris Dodd, Tim Geitner. These are the very ones pushing control on Wall Street. The SEC looked the other way while banks were REQUIRED to make loans of VERY QUESTIONABLE quality. When you vote for these clown you can expect the worst.I hate to see my fellow workers suffer but straight Democrat(socialist) ticket is not wise.We need balance and most important wisdom to get out of this mess.Know who you are voting for!!!

I really liked the part about turning the screws on Congress and we need to turn the screws on Business esp the US Chamber of Commerce. Its time to rethink this economic madhouse that rewards bad behavior not good.

I also think that the spot – while the intention is good – should have more of a specific goal, something people can specifically do.

Who do we vote for? Who do we vote against? How about supporting a specific initiative or proposition?

While creating jobs is great, and super important, right now we need a Tier 5 Federal Unemployment Benefits Extension!

If I remember correctly Hank Paulson and the right are JUST as culpable as Guitner and Dodd. I also remember Hank Paulson also pretty much demanding there be NO OVERSIGHT OF THE bailout. Wholey endorsed by the rest of the conservitive party. What a joke….fiscal responsibility from the right.

This kind of pernicious problem couldn’t have started a mere 16 months ago. There are still plenty people out there on their yachts living the good life. You won’t find them in DC pulling a 6:00 AM – 6PM day trying to get us out of this mess, against all odds and with so little support. The people laying off workers and shipped jobs overseas won’t be found in DC either. Has anyone noticed that our gas has not gone back up to anywhere near $4/gal? Coincidence? I think not.

  6. Nolan Olhausen says:

Congress – government – is NOT the problem. Get used to it. Obama is no dummy. On the contrary. So what is the problem? Government is the “subsidiary” (in Jim Hightower’s words) of big, very big business. You are not fighting government. You are fighting tremendously powerful forces the size (in wealth) of some of the largest developed countries in the world with huge resources and power fully available to them 24/7. Government has been bought and paid for by these interests. Government does the bidding of its patrons. We need to stop wasting our time fighting government and learn to recognize who those enemies are and how they operate. Stop listening to and watching mainstream media (and its spokespeople) because the media owners are also the government owners. Listen to the unions. Push unions to address the problems and explain what workers are up against. Push the unions to define and demonstrate how the transnationals and the very rich work and how workers can fight back. Learn who the real enemies are. Look at American history in the 1800s and see that what is happening today, happened then as well. Also push for an international labor cartel to balance the playing field. Take back your power.

We need UCube and the AFL-CIO to united the unemployed (and especially the 99ers)
for a protest date and place. Whether it be Washington, individual representatives offices, etc. If you are not a 99er yet….you will be.

  8. Don Henderson says:

We were betrayed by our government. Our country is in deep trouble and it is time to attempt to correct at least one wrong act. Unemployment is critical now. The jobs Americans had evaporated to foreign countries. We need to tell our government that we want NAFTA repealed. If the officials in office now won’t then we impeach them out of office and if their replacements don’t the same for them. We need manufacturing back in America and tariffs. America is at a breaking point with it’s economy and we must demand a reversal of NAFTA immediately before America collapses.

  9. You cant be serious says:

“Congress – government – is NOT the problem”
you make this claim, then just after that you make this claim “Government has been bought and paid for by these interests”. Government is made of people we elected to govern on OUR behalf. If the politicians are in someones pocket, then they are not representing us. Being politicians not lobbyists, groups, unions etc make the laws. it is they who are the problem, no one else. Lobbyists can only make suggestions. the politician is the only one who can act on that suggestion.

What I see happening in the next ten years or less, is a labor revalution, unless there is a complete turn around about the importance of the labor force in this country. Remember those people in the ivory towers are not the ones that make them their money. The labor force does, it is as simple as that. If finished product is not going out the back door, the checks dont come in the front. This is how it works plain and simple. The problem is that the big shots in business dont want us to think this way, so they scare with things like we’ll move out of country, or close shop. Start by talking to your fellow workers, show that they have the power in the place of employment, not management. Before it comes to a revalution, this will hurt everyone, but it will get the message to the fat cats quickly.

Are there any plans to demonstrate in DC? Who would organize such an endeavor?

  12. stimebones says:

What type of demonstration are you asking about ray.

  14. [...] UCubed ran a thousand spots aimed at the Keystone State’s unemployed. Reflecting what the jobless felt – screwed – the UCubed ad urged them to GO VOTE. “Now it’s our turn,” the ad said, “to turn the screws with our votes. Together we can put America back to work.” You can view the UCubed ad here. [...]

Congress has forgotten that the working class pay most of the taxes. What would the Big Banks that failed have done if our tax dollar were not there to bail them out? So they could give themselves Large Bonus off our tax dollar. The Repulican are no taxes. How are they going to get paid without our tax dollars. They want to reduce our government down to the size that they can drown it in a back yard swimming pool. This is a quote from national news this weekend. That is treasons. What are they going to replace our government? Corporate Dicatorship!!!
