The deadline for filing nominations for Union of Unemployed (UCubed) State Directors is one month away – Tuesday, March 1, 2011.  All candidate filing statements must be received by the UCubed Executive Director on or before this date in order appear on the ballot.

The election of State Directors is part of UCubed’s creation of a new three-tiered leadership structure. State Directors will make up the first level of leadership as states with more than 50 members will elect from among their most active cube leaders or jobs activists for a term of two years. The three-tiered structure will also consist of Regional Vice Presidents and a National Advisory Board.  By the way, Colorado just joined the states with more than 50 members.

Filing statements for candidates for State Director must be signed by twelve (12) UCubed members from that state and emailed to the UCubed Executive Director at . UCubed will validate the filing statements by checking the names and email addresses against the existing membership file.

Remember, both new and old members can vote in these elections, which means candidates can “stuff the ballot boxes” by recruiting new members.

A link to an online survey listing the candidates who were nominated will be emailed to all UCubed members from each state on Friday, April 29th.
