UCubed to Bunning: Throw The Bum Out!

Social Buttons by Linksku - Share links online

On the floor of the U.S. Senate, Kentucky GOP Senator Jim Bunning this week declared aloud it was “tough sh*t” if Senators disagreed with his delaying tactics that prevented an unemployment benefits extension for jobless Americans.

What could be more despicable? An obscenity-laced tirade from this baseball Hall of Fame inductee? Or Bunning’s obscene gesture to the millions of American baseball fans who have been idled in this Grave Recession.

Make certain Jim Bunning hears boos and hisses of the jobless. Don’t stand by while Bunning throws away the chance for more than 1.2 million jobless Americans to cash an unemployment check next month.  Don’t wait until Bunning eliminates the subsidy for COBRA that helps many jobless Americans keep their health care coverage.

Sign this UCubed petition to throw the bum out, to  have Jim Bunning ejected from the National Baseball  Hall of Fame, and to install Jim Bunning in the UCubed Hall of Shame.

This petition will be hand delivered to Bunning’s Senate Office and the Baseball Writers Association of American on Opening Day.

Do you think people want to be unemployed? We didn’t blow it. Congress blew it with deregulation and a whole host of other faux pas. You need a reality check, bozo.

  2. Jenifer D. says:

Monday is not going to be a good day for these poor folks who have to rely on unemployment to survive until they find another job.

  3. maxer says:

It would be a significant step forward if any cubes in Bunning’s state could mobilize to occupy one of his home offices and present a list of demands. Direct action is effective.

  4. Brian Rabuffetti says:

He is absolutely clueless on what it is like to be laid off.

  5. rexymeteorite says:

petition signed! Lets get Bunning out of office!

  6. wanderinglion says:

Why is he still in office? Hasn’t his sanity been seriously questioned before? There needs to be some method to remove the mentally damaged from positions of misplaced power.

He certainly played ball better than he frames his concerns. If he is actually arguing against the needs of the unemployed, he should be recalled. If he is arguing that the extended benefits should be taken from the same pot as those ‘bonuses’ given to the bankers and not be added to the pool of other IOUs, I wonder if he isn’t actually arguing badly for the better approach. Like many others, he seems not to realize that a week or two make a huge difference to many of us and that, by itself, may be enough reason to sign on instead of arguing for the right thing.

I’d like to see Bunning have to live without access to health care, no income, and no chances of getting any money due to being a chronically unemployed middle-aged woman. I’d like to see him have to try and cope with his utilities shut off, doing without gas in the middle of winter where temps dip down into the single digits. How much does that bum make? $100,000 a year plus perks and socialized medicine paid for by the taxpayer (the little people)? Throw Bunning out and the rest of his ilk in Congress.

  9. bipolarbear57 says:

Senator Bunning is not running for reelection so that’s why he can act with such assine impunity. I commented on the petition that his words will come back to haunt his colleagues who ARE running.

  10. sfink says:

  11. kddidit says:

Our illustrious senators should have live on unemployment to gain a common perspective.

We didn’t quit our day jobs, they quit us!

  12. robertbubba says:

That is 100% correct he is not runniong for reelection so why don’t we take a vote to take his no cut pension away and I bet he would be singing a different tune and I think even with goverment pension 80% of his salary [I think] he still gets to collect social security, he will be making well over 100grand a year what a low life, what a premadonna, why don’t you just fade away and let somebody competant take your job Bob

  13. Bob says:

Did you know that Jim Bunning, on his website, states that he is an active member of a Christian church? Anyway… I just posted what I did to start applying pressure to this jerk from all ends. Don’t know if it will work but if you can help out, that would be great! Here’s the direct link to my blog post:

    Thanks so much!

Bob, one of the millions of unemployed

  14. murphy says:

Bunning makes $174,000 annually as a senator PLUS government healthcare, PLUS $.5 to $2 million in donations from corporate special interests.

I hope he’s a moral and public embarrassment to his family and friends.

Extension passed. Playing politics with our lives. Something has to be done!!!
